Cheryl J. Ball, APR

The launch of Curved Edge Consulting in 2007 has provided Cheryl Ball with the opportunity to utilize her 15 years of diverse communications experience. Her areas of expertise include internal and external communications, community relations, corporate branding, media relations, public relations strategy development, non-profit marketing and management, corporate training and strategic event management.

Previous Career Highlights

As director of marketing for Le Blanc Financial Group in Knoxville, she was responsible for all public relations and marketing efforts of this locally owned financial planning firm. She initiated a new branding and image campaign, developed a marketing and community relations plan, and oversaw the firm’s advertising, media relations, advisor marketing, special events, client relations and charitable giving. In addition, she was responsible for firm operations and was Series 7 and 24 registered with the NASD.

Prior to her affiliation with financial services, Cheryl was the director of volunteer services for Girl Scouts of Tanasi Council for seven years. She was responsible for internal communications with 3,000 volunteers, 600 troops and 9,000 Girl Scouts over an 18 county service delivery area. She developed a strategic plan for the Gold Award program resulting in a 40 percent increase in the number of girls receiving the award, and created a plan to streamline and expand the volunteer training program.

Cheryl entered the traditional non-profit sector as vice president of marketing for Goodwill Industries in Knoxville and held positions with the National Association Medical Staff Services and Carolina Organ Procurement Agency in North Carolina to kick off her career. In these positions, Cheryl’s responsibilities included local and national media relations, conference and event management, community relations, member services, employee campaigns and print and web communications.

Cheryl earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications/Public Relations from Appalachian State University with a minor in Marketing. She was a member of National Honor Society and president of the student run PR firm. She earned the Accredited in Public Relations (APR) designation by the PRSA-affiliated Universal Accreditation Board in 1998. Cheryl is a graduate of the Models for Management course from Integrated Management Systems and is a certified instructor of trainers.
